FEEP IoT & Big Data Platform Sofia2 3.3 RELEASED

New Release FEEP IoT & Big Data Platform Sofia2 is now available ,this releases is available on the Experimentation Platform Sofia2 CloudLab.

(FEEP IoT & Big Data Platform Sofia2 is part of the FEEP Enablement Platform from minsait).

This release includes several features, such as:

· Group Concept

This functionality allows the user (min COLABORATOR ROLE) to create a collaborative environment where the cause can share ontologies, gadgets, Web projects,… with other users. Members of the group are able to use, delete and edit the above features.

Each project member can add/remove all the above features but other users can only be added by the project creator or any platform administrator.

The project creation characteristics are shown below:

When you create a project, we will have a series of lists with the name of the functionalities to which I own or have permission. The only thing we have to do is select the elements of each listing that we want to include in the project and then click "create".

Once created, we can visualize the information attached to the project through the button "View" in the list of projects.

· Sofia2 New Control Panel Look&Feel (Web Console)

Following some ideas, points of view and instructions received from you, the aspect of Sofia2 Control Panel has been updated.

Some of new features:

New Menu: created with icons help to us saving space in the screen and not moving the content of main window and his content.

BreadCrumbs: new aspect helping to know where the user is in this moment.

Integrated Search (lens icon): we can find it in the sub right bar near of breadcrumbs. Useful tool helping to user to finding proyects, kps, ontologies… in the table ahead being a general search and not being filtered.

Filtered Search(Accordion): allowing us to have more space in the main content and saving space in the table list.

Globalization “Create” Buttons : located at the top right margin of all lists, making easier the creation of a Project, KP,Ontology.TAG…

New Header: improve the aspect and visualization from role of user.

· Reorganization of Control Panel Menu :

With this restructuring have been reduced the options of menu attempted to increase usability, so that a non-expert user will be able find what he wants more easily

· Bot Sofia2 Demo

We do not want to miss this new trend, so we have built a basic chatbott based on Sofia2 that can answer the questions you have about the platform (what is Sofia2, what is a KP, what is an ontology, etc…)

Sorry for our English users but the bot is available only in Spanish at the moment.

In future releases the functionality that allows simply and visually create Bots on the platform and develop bots for Twitter, Telegram, Facebook, etc… will be enabled as well as bots in other languages.

The conversation is sent automatically to Sofia2, allowing further analysis.

· Ontology Partitioning in the Sofia2 HDB

In this version when a user is creating an ontology can decide to store it partitioned at the HDB.

This extends the capabilities of exploitation of the information stored in the historical repository.

To use it once you create a ontology you can create and modify the settings of partition ontologies.

The wizard lets you select those fields you want to partition , one or more :

The partitioning process can be expensive depending on the data recorded in the HDB for that ontology, during that time the partitioned configuration icon disappears:

· Smart Industry Demo

Smart Industry Demo is based on the Integration IT / OT solution and Industrial Smart Asset. It tries to offer an overview of the assets of a company that performs different manufacturing and generation processes.

The solution is customized for a pulp manufacturing company and all datasets are stored in Sofia2’s ontologies. Along with the instances generator of the platform, they will be used to inform the visuals and updated in real-time at different levels: global , per plant , per line and by asset .

The demo consists of a menu and a main screen where you can access all different functions :

General state View: accessible on the main screen and by the menu option Dashboards. Shows the plant’s KPIs main information.

Plants and customers location map: you can see the location of the plants and the clients/plants relationship, as well as detailed information if you click on each of them .

Information on each plant and simulated data : real time information is displayed for each plant: alerts , production lines , historical information and sales. Clicking on ‘simulación de datos’ the values, graphics and alerts changes along the time.

Synoptic : Using Sofia2’s SCADA module, the demo includes two synoptics, one showing the different manufacturing processes on a global level and other for a specific process. Both have the option to simulate the data , so you can see how the values ​​and controls are updated.

Assets: Displays low level information, to get the detail of each of the assets : general information , parameters, historical information and maintenance plan.


· Dashboard security

With this new release dashboards become private by default, the user can decide to share them with a group, in this case all the group users can see them or make them public to be visible by any user. On the other hand, the dashboards that already exist in the platform remain as public allowing the owner to modify its privacy.

· Query builder wizard

The RTDB & BDH Console tool has been updated adding a wizard to build queries.

In the case of SQL, when a ontology of the list is selected appears another list with the ontology fields which can be selected and added to the query. Once fields have been chosen, appears an option to add one or more conditions to the query.

In the case of BDH query using SQL, it is also available the option “GROUP BY”, once a condition has been added, then appears this option in which you can select the field.

It is also allows to build the query in native language, in this case the ontology fields are selected when adding the condition.

· MongoDB interpreter in the Notebook module

As you know the Notebook module allows data scientists to explore data programmatically (R , Python , Spark , … ) all information managed by the platform.

In this release a new interpreter has been added to the Notebook, this will allow users to work with data of the RTDB of Sofia2.

The interpreter is invoked with %mongodb and allows to launch the sentence in MongoDB native language.

The interpreter converts the JSON data to a table model:

As in the rest of the Notebook, we can make the graphic presentation of values:

· RePhone Kit API for Sofia2

RePhone Kit offers a rich set of electronic modules (GSM/GPRS+BLE, GPS, Display, …) coupled with open-source capabilities (C/C++, Arduino, Lua or Javascript). All this flexibility puts RePhone in a good position to become a platform of choice for developers when building IoT applications, with a special focus on mobility scenarios, ranging from simple tracking applications to a complete modular smartphone.

User applications are running on RePhone Kit’s main board, the Xadow BLE+GSM. This board features a tiny but powerful SoC, the MT2502 from Mediatek. The chip brings to bear a nice blend of short range communications (BLE) and mobile communications (GSM/GPRS), providing a versatile approach to mobility and tracking projects (thanks to the additional Xadow GPSv2 board). Using GPRS channels, this tiny board is able to remotely send information to Sofia2 and leverage its capabilities (rules engine, trigger alerts, presentation layers, …)

A blog entry will be posted shortly with a step-by-step guide on how to connect Rephone Kit and Sofia2 in an easy way.

· Social Login at Sofia2.com

As an example of Social Media capabilities of the Platform, we have enabled Social Login with 3 major social networks : Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin, this allows you to create a user in Sofia2.com data from Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin.

In future releases the platform will enable capabilities sousers can operate their own information.


· HTML Documentation

In this release we have started a process to migrate the platform’s documentation to HTML so that the platform’s whole learning process can be more intuitive.

The user can access directly the desired documentation as it is organized and distributed in blocks following the vision, user profile and desired knowledge level of the platform.

Developer users will have access to all sorts of handbooks and a number of resources that will improve inderstanding, developing and using Sofia2.

· DataFlow and Notebook Modules Update

The reference implementation of the DataFlow module has been update to StreamSets version, which have the following components:
